A bog post on code.google.com/opensocial is coming soon, but I wanted to give a shout out to my colleagues at Google who worked to produce the OpenSocial client libraries that greatly enable REST interactions with OpenSocial servers.
Why are these client libraries significant? Firstly, they provide a way to build cool server-to-server mashups with OpenSocial. This means that you can actually build OpenSocial applications and more importantly cool mashups with any server-side technology – as opposed to always having to write a gadget in JavaScript!
The combination of both the REST (and RPC) protocols that come in version 0.8.1 of OpenSocial, plus a set of user friendly client libraries makes enterprise mashups of OpenSocial with any other technology possible.
